Modern Slavery Statement

Our Commitment

Mudawa Trust is committed to acting ethically, responsibly and with integrity in all aspects of its charitable activities. We recognise that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and the exploitation of vulnerable people are serious human rights concerns that must not be tolerated.

As a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity Number 1152887), we are committed to respecting human dignity, protecting vulnerable individuals and promoting fairness, transparency and accountability throughout our operations.

What Is Modern Slavery?

Modern slavery is an umbrella term covering practices such as forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, debt bondage and other forms of exploitation in which individuals are deprived of their freedom and dignity.

We recognise that people affected by poverty, conflict, displacement and humanitarian emergencies may be particularly vulnerable to exploitation. Through our charitable work, we aim to support people in need while treating every individual with dignity, respect and compassion.

Our Activities and Operations

Mudawa Trust supports people and communities through charitable activities that may include food assistance, clean water, education, healthcare, emergency relief, Zakat, Sadaqah and orphan and family support.

We aim to ensure that our activities are conducted responsibly and that the people, organisations and suppliers involved in delivering our work share our commitment to ethical conduct and the protection of vulnerable people.

Our Suppliers and Partners

Where applicable, we seek to work with reputable suppliers, service providers, delivery partners and other organisations that demonstrate appropriate ethical standards.

We aim to:

  • Work with suppliers and partners who respect human rights and applicable laws.

  • Consider the risk of exploitation when engaging suppliers and service providers.

  • Encourage fair working practices and responsible conduct.

  • Raise concerns about suspected modern slavery or exploitation where appropriate.

  • Take proportionate action if credible concerns arise regarding a supplier or partner.

Protecting Vulnerable People

Protecting vulnerable people is an important consideration in our charitable activities. We aim to treat beneficiaries, volunteers, staff, supporters and partners with dignity and respect.

We recognise the importance of appropriate safeguarding practices and responsible decision-making to help reduce the risk of exploitation, abuse and harm.

Reporting Concerns

Anyone who has concerns about possible modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour or exploitation connected with Mudawa Trust’s activities, suppliers or partners is encouraged to report those concerns to us.

Concerns can be raised through our Contact Us page or by emailing info@mudawatrust.com.

All concerns should be treated seriously and handled sensitively, with appropriate regard for confidentiality, safeguarding and the safety of those involved.

Our Ongoing Commitment

Mudawa Trust is committed to reviewing its approach to modern slavery risks as its activities and operations develop. We aim to improve our awareness of relevant risks and strengthen our ethical practices where appropriate.

This statement reflects our commitment to responsible charitable work, respect for human rights and the protection of vulnerable people.
